VIP TICKETS TO WIN!

The Great Tapestry of Scotland is due to open to the public in April 2021 and you (+1) could attend the opening Ceremony as VIP Guests with exclusive access and refreshments!

160 panels have been hand-stitched by 1000 volunteers from communities across Scotland, each panel depicting an important moment in Scotland's history. The brainchild of writer and University of Edinburgh professor, Alexander McCall Smith, the Great Tapestry has grown to become a true phenomenon and the longest tapestry in the world at 143 metres (469 feet)! The work has been designed by Andrew Crummy and has needed over 300 miles of wool to help tell Scotland's story.

A purpose-built venue is under construction in the Border town of Galashiels to house the Great Tapestry on permanent display and the launch will also be accompanied by a temporary exhibition in which a panel dedicated to our Chief, Captain Alwyne Farquharson of Invercauld, will feature.

As a special addition to our Gathering this year, the team of the Great Tapestry had accepted to bring the Welcome Panel to our Clan tent at the Ballater Highland Games, so that visitors to the Games could add a stitch to the panel and have their names registered as contributors to this great endeavour. Sadly, with the Games and physical Gathering being compromised by the Covid pandemic, this could no longer happen, however this wasn't going to impede our partnership with the Great Tapestry and we are most grateful to their team for kindly offering two invitations for one lucky winner among the UK-resident members of Clan Farquharson the chance to attend the launch event as their VIP guests.

HOW TO ENTER

Four questions are discreetly hiding behind animated Great Tapestry panels (see example opposite) on the Gathering pages of this website. Hover your cursor over the panels to reveal the questions and then complete the entry form (below) by submitting your 4 answers to the questions and your name will be entered into the prize draw. The deadline for entries is 5pm UK on Saturday 15th August 2020 and the winner will be drawn and announced during our online International Clan Banquet on Saturday 15th August 2020. The winner will be informed by email on Monday 17th August and will have 48 hours to acknowledge by return of email, failing which a new winner will be drawn and subject to the same 48 hour response time. One entry per household and entrants must be at least 18 years of age. The prize includes special VIP access and refreshments for two people to the Opening Ceremony of The Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels in April 2021 (date to be confirmed).

This offer is limited exclusively to active and honorary Members of Clan Farquharson UK.
